Birth Center

We ask that you contact us when labor begins so our team is aware and can make preparations to be available for your birth. The midwife will remain in contact with you to help you determine the best time to come to the birth center. Our birth center is fully stocked with the essential medical supplies and midwifery tools required to support a safe, out-of-hospital birth.

Upon admission, we will assess you and your baby by checking vital signs, listening to your baby’s heart tones, and confirming that you are in active labor (4 or more centimeters). Two to three members of our clinical team will be present to support your birth, ensuring attentive care while maintaining a calm and respectful environment.

During active labor, our approach is generally hands-off and supportive, allowing you to labor in the way that feels most natural to you. Your birthing suite is your space, and we encourage the presence of your chosen support people. If you anticipate needing continuous hands-on support, we recommend hiring a doula. If siblings will be present, we ask that a dedicated adult be available to attend to their needs. Water birth is offered as an option for comfort, pain relief, and relaxation during labor. Please discuss this with our team if you are interested.

After your baby is born, we focus on ensuring a smooth and healthy transition for both of you. We support immediate skin-to-skin contact and assist with initiating breastfeeding. Minimal separation is our standard practice. Delayed cord clamping is routine, and your baby will remain on your chest or abdomen during the early moments after birth.

We typically remain with you for several hours after the birth to monitor recovery, support bonding and feeding, and ensure that you are eating, hydrating, and able to void comfortably. Your newborn exam is performed at least one hour after birth to allow uninterrupted bonding and feeding time. At no point is your baby separated from you.
