Community-based birth care has long demonstrated strong outcomes, yet it is often underrepresented in formal data systems. Sankofa Foundation Inc. is expanding its work to support opt-in, community-governed data collection from birth centers. This data is used to:

• Document birth center outcomes and utilization

• Strengthen advocacy and policy efforts

• Support grant funding and sustainability for birth centers

• Ensure that community-led birth work is accurately represented

Participation is voluntary, transparent, and grounded in consent. Birth centers maintain ownership of their data while contributing to shared impact reporting.

Strengthening Birth Centers & Small Organizations Through Data

In addition to direct support, Sankofa Foundation Inc. provides data analytics and reporting services for birth centers as well as small community‑based organizations and businesses. These services help organizations:

• Reduce administrative and reporting burdens with simplified dashboards

• Produce professional reports for funders, partners, and stakeholders

• Use data as a tool for sustainability and growth—not surveillance

Revenue from these services is reinvested into the Sankofa Birth Fund, creating a model where strengthened data capacity directly supports expanded access to care.
